MY REVIEW

The Italian Job is the American remake of the 1969 British film of the same name.  It is about a gang of thieves led by John Bridger(Donald Sutherland) and Charlie Croker(Mark Wahlberg).  Other members include the 'inside man', Steve(Edwart Norton),the getaway driver Handsome Rob(Jason Statham),The explosives expert, Left Ear(Mos Def) and The Technical expert Lyle aka The Napster(Seth Green).  They are in Venice to undertake their final heist ($35 million worth of gold).This is when they are betrayed by one of their gang members and are left for dead.  Charlie Croker and his team including John's Daughter Stella Bridger plan a heist against their former ally.

The movie doesn't have any heroes.  It is a movie about thieves and more thieves.  By the end of the movie whether you like it or not,you end up rooting for these thieves.  Getting Even is the theme of the movie.  I have not seen the 1969 Italian Job so I cant compare the two movies.  But if I talk of this movie I would say that I liked it.

This Thriller/Action movie has keeps you at the edge of your seat.  The Mini Coopers are the real stars in the movie.  The car chases involving the Minis' are phenomenal.  Those who have seen the movie would agree with me that it is this car chase scene that that makes the movie so memorable.  The movie also has some funny moments.  The scene where Charlie gives the introduction of the various members to Stella is quite funny.  Even the last scene where the members fulfill their desires make you to bid farewell to the movie with a smile.

Mark Wahlberg as the leader of the gang of thieves has done a good job.  You can see how much he loves his mentor/Friend a lot and is determined to avenge his death.  Edwart Norton never ceases to amaze you with his performance.  This role is not as good as the one he had done in Fight Club or American History X but he looks real mean in this movie.  He has done a fabulous job playing the 'back-stabber' Steve.  This is a multi-starrer film and each of the character has its own moments and story.A special mention of Seth Green as 'The Napster' for his bang-on comic timing.

Don't watch this movie expecting some emotional drama,some message about life or expecting a lot of violence.  This film is a pure fun film that makes you feel good.
