MY REVIEW
Today,I was going to see one of the Indiana Jones movie but my CD didn't work and somehow I landed on this film.  'Definitely, maybe' is listed as a movie belonging to the Rom-Com genre, but after seeing this film I realized its more of a Romantic Mystery.   It's not just  like any typical Rom-Com flick. It's a film that makes you think 'What next?'

Ryan Reynolds plays William Hayes, a political consultant in New York.   He is divorced and has a 10 year old daughter, Maya (Abigal Breslin) with whom he spends his Wednesdays.   One of these days, Maya insists her fatherto tell her how he and her mother met.  William at first reluctant, finally gives in.  He decides to tell her the story but with a twist. He changes the names of the girls with whom he had been involved and wants Maya to guess who out of the three woman was her mother.  (Even the viewer has to guess it as he/she is never formally introduced to the mother till the very end of the film)

Most of the movie is in the form of a flashback with occasional switching to reality where Maya would comment or ask questions of her father.  These occasional switching does help the film and prevents it from being monotonous.  There are lot of funny moments in the film.  Scenes such as Ryan Reynolds as the toilet paper guy or William explaining various 'adult' terms to her daughter are memorable.

Although Bill Clinton didn't act in this film, but still he is everywhere.  Well, It is his presidential campaign of 1992 which is the one responsible for making and breaking of most of relationships in the movie.  There is even a scene which frankly I found quite pointless, where he is shown jogging in the park.  I think he does deserve some credit for the success of this film.

The three girls, Isla Fisher,Rechel Weisz and Elizabeth banks have done their job perfectly.  Their roles make it impossible to guess the mother until it is finally revealed.  Ryan Reynolds, I think is made for these kinds of films (Remember 'The Proposal') but the real star is the little girl Abigal Bresilin who is shown quite mature for her age.  She is the one with most of the funny lines in the movie.  At times I felt that she was the most intelligent person in the movie!!

The thing I found bad in this movie was the ending.  A 10 year old girl cant simply do what she does in the end.  I found it really unrealistic.

This movie will be better appreciated by females.   Watch this movie if you are bored of the typical Rom-Com  movies and would love some mystery in a Rom-Com flick.

MY RATING 7.5/10
