MY REVIEW
'127 Hours' is the second Danny Boyle movie I have seen after 'Slumdog Millionaire'.  I must say I found this movie far better than Slumdog.  Yes, Slumdog won a lot of oscars but  I found it a lot like the bollywood movies and thus to me it wasn't a 'different' movie.  As for direction of the movie, both the movie have been beautifully directed.

This movie is based on the true story of the mountain climber, Aron Ralston. It is about how he got trapped under a boulder and how he finally manages to free himself after days of struggle.  As I said in the review of 'Catch me if you can' playing a real life character is one of the toughest jobs for any actor.  In this film James Franco not only plays Aron Ralston but he is also the solo lead.  The weight of the entire film rests on his shoulder.James Franco has taken up this responsibility quite well.  You never get bored of him even though you are seeing him in almost every scene.  This role just raises James Franco to another level.  The Academy Award Nomination was well deserved.

The story is simple and predictable but it is the small and important elements in the film that makes the film memorable.  Things like how he survives when he runs out of water, what does he do to keep himself warm at night, his realization of how his doings have led him to this event and how he is destined to die trapped under the boulder and the  final scene where he amputates his arm have been handled really well by Danny Boyle.

Some of the scenes in the movie are quite graphic and disturbing.  Some people actually fainted during the film's premiere due to the intense nature of the film.I feel though these scene look horrific but they are required in this film. This movie is a biography and the truth needed to be told.Still, do not watch the film if you cant stand such scenes.

Watch this movie for the 'Flawless' James Franco and the 'attention to detail' direction by Danny Boyle

MY RATING 8.5/10
