MY REVIEW
In my previous post, I called The Sixth Sense one of the best thrillers of all time.  Well this movie belongs to the same category.  But the striking feature of this movie is its dark nature and atmosphere.  Its not classified as a Horror, but there are scenes in this movies that give you the chills.

The story is about two homicide cops,'the soon to retire' William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) and his 'replacement' David Mills (Brad Pitt).Their latest assignment is tracking down a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as hi modus operandi. Its about how the killer toys with them and how they ultimately track him down.

The story appears to be very simple and straight forward but let me tell you, once you start watching this film you would be glued to your television sets till the movie is over.  You will be thinking all the time.  You would get horrified to see the ways used to murder the victims but I am sure you will not be disappointed to see this movie.  The climax set in a desert is quite shocking, it truly matches with the seventh deadly sin 'WRATH'.

David Fincher is known to direct a lot of dark but beautiful films (Fight Club, The girl with the dragon tattoo to name a few).  This guy is just a genius. He knows everything that needs to be known for a director.  No wonder he is considered as one of the best in the industry.   If you see the film, to give you fear and a chilling atmosphere the lighting in this movie is kept literally towards a darker side.

As for the performance Morgan Freeman is a legend.  He has done some wonderful films throughout his career.   This movie is right there at the top along with Shawshank Redemption, Invictus, Million Dollar Baby etc.  There are just so many.  His seriousness as a Homicide Cop whose is at the verge of retirement putting all his dedication in catching this 'Serial killer' is amazing. A  s for Brad Pitt, this is the first of the three films that he has done with David Fincher. Fincher seems to get the best out of Brad Pitt.  His acting in the climax deserves standing ovation.  The interesting thing about their roles is that both of them play characters which are quite contrasting yet dependent on each other.  Gwenyth Paltrow plays the supporting role quite well. Though her role is not too big yet she gains your attention. You just cant forget her role.

This film has quite a lot of disturbing scenes involving dead bodies and the ways these victims are killed is sick. Please do not watch this movie if you cant tolerate these type of scenes.

Watch it for the thrills, the horror, the excitement. Need I say more. A masterpiece by David Fincher

MY RATING 8.5/10
