MY REVIEW
Making a prequel to a successful trilogy and that too with a new star-cast, I have to admit is tough.  There are so many expectations riding on such a movie. This movie not only lives up the expectations but sets a new benchmark for the upcoming X-men movies.  Of the 5 X-men movies that have come so far I feel this one is the best.

The most interesting part of a prequel is you get reasons for some of the unsolved mysteries in a franchise.  You get answers to questions Why  this? or why not this? etc which come to your mind seeing the earlier films.  In this movie the viewers get to know how Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr respectively became Professor X and Magneto. It is about how the two closest of friends want to bring all the mutants together,it is about saving the world.  Most importantly it tells you the reason, the two friends parted ways.

The star cast doesnot include the flashy names such as Hugh Jackman, Halle berry, Patrick Stewart etc but it includes relatively inexperienced actors who I believe have done a wonderful job.   James McAvoy as Charles looks to be the perfect choice.   Michael Fassbender is the star of the film.  He has a real strong screen presence.  His mere presence in a scene demands your attention.  This is just the kind of movie that Fassbender's career needed.  I truly believe this actor has great potential which has been proved in his new films that include 'Shame' and 'Prometheus'.  The story required a strong chemistry between the 2 leads, Professor X and Magneto and they have achieved that with great panache. These two actors have done their roles justice.Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique is great while Kevin Bacon as the main villain of the film has also done a fabulous job.

The success of this movie is due to its writers. They have written a marvellous story with special attention to all the small details.T  he scene where Charles helps Erik get a control on his powers cant be forgotten.  The movie has few jokes/funny moments that prevent the movie from going all serious or monotonous.   The locations are chosen well and the special effects are really good. You cant keep your eyes off this movie during the climax scene.

A must watch for all X-men fans and also for those people who never liked X-men before.  It is definately the bestX-men movie ever.

MY RATING 9/10
